Aly Arismendy

Aly Arismendy is a Colombian educator, university instructor, author, and early childhood education specialist with more than 25 years of experience in the field of teaching. His professional journey has been distinguished by a deep vocation for service, a strong academic foundation, and an unwavering commitment to educational excellence, both in early childhood classrooms and in the preparation of future educators.

His passion for teaching began at a very young age, while he was still attending a Normal Superior High School with an emphasis in pedagogy. From that point forward, he began his path in an institution recognized for its excellence in teacher preparation—an experience that profoundly shaped his vision of education and solidified the purpose that has guided him throughout his life. Coming from a family with a strong educational tradition, Aly grew up surrounded by educators. His parents, grandparents, and other family members dedicated their lives to teaching, making education not only a profession, but also a family legacy and a lifelong mission.

Throughout his career, Aly Arismendy has built a broad and diverse academic background. He holds three bachelor’s degrees in different areas of education, including Early Childhood Education, Physical Education, and additional studies in Early Childhood Education completed in the United States at North Seattle College. This academic preparation has allowed him to develop a holistic vision of learning, understanding the child through multiple dimensions: cognitive, physical, emotional, social, and cultural. In addition, he earned a master’s degree from Eastern Washington University and a doctorate from South College in the United States, further strengthening his profile as an educator, scholar, and leader in the field of education.

His professional experience spans different educational philosophies and pedagogical approaches, allowing him to adapt and excel in diverse learning environments. Over the years, he has worked with multiple curricula, programs, and teaching models, developing an outstanding ability to design, implement, and lead high-quality curricular initiatives. He is recognized for his ability to create meaningful, organized, and culturally responsive curricula focused on the holistic development of children and the creation of effective, inclusive, and transformative learning environments.

Aly Arismendy has also distinguished himself as a natural leader in education. His work reflects a combination of vision, human sensitivity, professional discipline, and pedagogical creativity. He has devoted much of his career to supporting the growth of children, families, teachers, and educational communities, contributing not only technical expertise, but also an inspiring and deeply committed presence. His leadership is evident in the way he guides processes, structures programs, builds teams, and advocates for high-quality education that truly responds to the needs of children.

Currently, he works with the City of Seattle in the field of early childhood education, where he continues to contribute actively to the strengthening of educational programs and the development of meaningful learning experiences for young children. At the same time, he serves as a university instructor, sharing his experience with new generations of educators and bringing a practical, human, and academically grounded perspective to teacher preparation.

In addition to his work as an educator and leader, Aly Arismendy is the author of two books focused on education. One of them, What Classrooms Keep Quiet, offers a profound reflection on the realities that often remain unspoken within educational spaces. The other, El arte de la enseñanza de la primera infancia / The Art of Teaching in Early Childhood, published in both Spanish and English, presents strategies, reflections, and foundational principles for an authentic, humane, and effective educational practice. Through his books, Aly seeks to inspire, guide, and give voice to the realities, challenges, and greatness of the educational world.

Another distinguishing aspect of Aly Arismendy is his linguistic and cultural richness. He speaks Spanish, English, Portuguese, and Wayuunaiki, a native language that is deeply connected to his roots and identity. This multilingual ability strengthens his connection with diverse communities and enriches his vision of an inclusive, respectful, and culturally responsive education.

His professional profile is characterized by a unique combination of experience, academic preparation, genuine passion for teaching, and a firm belief in the transformative power of education. Aly Arismendy believes in a kind of education that shapes, inspires, includes, and uplifts—an education that honors childhood, empowers educators, and leaves a positive mark on society.

Today, through his work, his writing, and his professional platform, he continues to share his knowledge, his experience, and his vision with those who believe that educating is far more than teaching—it is building the future, dignifying lives, and transforming the world from the earliest years.
